CLOUGH WANTS TO KEEP MOMENTUM GOING IN FA CUP TIE

4 January 2018

NIGEL Clough wants to continue his team’s good form in the FA Cup on Saturday when the Brewers take on Birmingham City (kick off 3pm).

Albion travel to St Andrew’s for the Third Round tie on the back of an impressive 3-0 away win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Clough said: “It’s an important game for us and we want to keep winning. We have only lost one in five now. We want to build an unbeaten run and if that means taking a replay then we will take a replay in order to get through. Financially the FA Cup is always important so we won’t be putting youngsters out there.

“We are only in three competitions. We might not be able to win the FA Cup but we can certainly progress in it. If we win this round you never know what the next round will bring financially, and for the supporters, getting a big club down here would be great. It’s important to get through.

“But it’s also about not losing games and keeping the momentum.

“Both club will say the priority is the league but come Saturday afternoon we will both want to win the game. They have had two wins, two clean sheets and by all accounts were very good at Reading and will be as confident as any team in the league at the moment.”
