RYAN Delaney has left Burton Albion to join Rochdale.
The 21-year-old defender joined the Brewers on an initial two-year deal in the summer of 2016 from Wexford Youths after impressing in a pre-season trial.
The Irishman had recently re-joined the Brewers after a successful loan spell with Cork City but with chances limited in Nigel Clough’s first team, has now moved to League One Rochdale on a two-and-a-half year deal.
Nigel Clough says: “It’s a good opportunity for Ryan after a very productive loan spell at Cork. Ryan hasn’t quite made the progress we hoped and has found opportunities limited. We have a very strong defence and with being a left sided defender and even Stephen Warnock finding it hard to get in the side at the moment, his chances would be limited. This gives him an opportunity to further his development and make a name for himself in League One.”
