AKINS BELIEVES BREWERS HAVE THE CHARACTER TO BOUNCE BACK

21 January 2018

LUCAS Akins admits that Burton Albion’s performance against Fulham was ‘disappointing’ and he believes that the Brewers must now show character to bounce back.

Burton suffered their biggest ever Championship defeat at the hands of Fulham, as they overcame the Brewers 6-0 at Craven Cottage

Akins says that there are not many positives to take from the defeat, but believes Burton Albion have the desire to bounce back from the heavy defeat.

He said: “It was a really disappointing afternoon from start to finish and there are not a lot of positives to take from the game.

“During my time here, we have had to show character in difficult periods and this is one of those. Losing 6-0 in any game of football hurts, there are a lot of disappointed lads and we know that we need to do a lot better if we are to survive in this division.

“I believe that we are (able to show the character to bounce back), we have got some decent characters in (the squad). We need to gather our thoughts and get it out of our system as quickly as possible, there is no point dwelling on it now.

“What’s happened today has happened, as bad as it was there is nothing that we can now to change that. There are not many positives to take from it but we are not miles adrift, one win doesn’t make you the best team in the world, but it can change a lot. We need to go and look to get a positive result, as difficult as it has been at home, we need to turn it around at some point and we need to concentrate on doing that now.”
