FOX SCORES ON HOME DEBUT

24 January 2018

MIDFIELDER Ben Fox scored on his home debut for loan club Gateshead to rescue a point last night.

His goal was described as 'A moment of magic' by Gateshead, after Fox waited patiently on the edge of the box for Barrow to deliver a perfect pass. The left-back's cross was perfect for Fox whose strike was even better.

The midfielder met the ball on the half-volley with his weaker foot to guide it past Baxter in the Woking goal. The point has moved The Heed up to 15th in the Vanarama National League.

Ben also earned the 'Man of the match' award for his outstanding performance in front of 470 supporters.

It rounds off a great start for Fox who was included in the Non-League Paper's 'National League Team of the Day' and the 'National League Team of the Weekend' after his Gateshead debut on Saturday.

Steve Watson, Gateshead manager said: "Great technique and a great strike. It was becoming one of those frustrating nights because we've scored ten goals in the last four games so scoring hasn't been our problem of late.

"We haven't kept enough clean sheets like we were doing at the start of the season. You start to worry that the goal isn't going to come but it took a special strike from Ben (Fox) to get the point for us."
