TEN first-year scholars have joined the Professional Development Phase ahead of the 2018-19 season.
All 10 players have progressed from the under 16s side, and even featured in some Youth Alliance games for the under 18s last season.
With Callum Hawkins having earned a professional deal last season, Nathan Smith has joined the under 18s goalkeeping ranks.
Centre-backs Rueben Lal and Cael McDonnell have joined the under 18s, along with left back Thomas Armitage.
Midfielders Tyo Carter, Owen Hickson and Ciaran Gilligan have joined-up with the team, as have wide men Jack Holmes and Emmanuel Shittu. Striker Tom Hewlett has also joined.
The 10 first years have already began pre-season training with the remaining members of last year’s team. Their first match of pre-season takes place next week, when they travel to Kirkby to face Liverpool under 18s on July 12.
Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Sam Rose said:
“We are really excited to see how this group can develop. You never really know, it all depends on the boys and they have obviously been picked for their footballing ability and the kind of people that they are.”
