REPORT: UTTOXETER TOWN 3-5 BURTON ALBION UNDER 18S

14 July 2018

GOALS from Kyle Clamp, Jack Holmes and Tom Armitage, as well as two from trialists, helped the Young Brewers to a thrilling 5-3 win over Uttoxeter Town at Oldfields Sports Club.

The hosts were the better side in the early stages and they took an early lead when the ball was headed past Fairbrother in the Burton goal. However, the Brewers rallied and were able to take a 2-1 lead into the half-time interval, with two trialists scoring.

The first was a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, the second a towering header that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Half-time: Uttoxeter Town 1-2 Burton Albion under 18s.

The second-half saw the game explode into life. Uttoxeter drew the score level when they won the ball in the Burton half and drove into the penalty area before slotting past Fairbrother.

After two good chances for the hosts, the Young Brewers took the lead. Armitage broke down the left and rounded the goalkeeper before passing to Holmes to score.

A minute later, it was 3-3. A penalty was awarded for a foul in the box and Uttoxeter converted to once again level it up.

Kyle Clamp scored a well-placed header to put the Brewers back in front, before Armitage capped-off a brilliant second-half performance by scoring the side’s fifth goal, securing their first win of the pre-season campaign.
