CLOUGH LOOKS TO ADD TO SQUAD BEFORE SEASON BEGINS

28 July 2018

NIGEL Clough hopes to bolster his squad with a loan signing before the Brewers start the League One season.

Speaking after the last pre-season game against Cardiff, the Albion manager said: “Hopefully we can get a loan player or two in over the next seven days before the season starts – we are going to try very hard.”

The Brewers faced Neil Warnock’s Premier League side with seven players struggling with injuries.

John Brayford, Reece Hutchinson and David Templeton have hamstring problems, Marvin Sordell and Scott Fraser have calf strains and Will Miller is still recovering from his long-term knee injury. Ben Fox had a dead leg and could therefore only make the bench against Cardiff.

Clough said: “With these niggles and injuries we haven’t been able to put  the team out we wanted to and it’s been a very frustrating four weeks so far.”

Clough will have to wait and see who is fit to face Rochdale.

“Nobody is ruled out and nobody is definitely available - quite a few are at a similar stage. It just depends who heals. We hope some of them at least will be available for next Saturday.”
