23 IN 23: DONCASTER ROVERS

23 June 2018

OUR second home game of the season sees us take-on Doncaster Rovers, here is an in-depth look at the Yorkshire side.

WHEN DO WE PLAY THEM?

Home: Saturday 18 August 2018

Away: Saturday 19 January 2019

CLUB HISTORY

Doncaster Rovers were formed in 1879 and turned professional in 1885. They won the Checkatrade Trophy in 2007 and League One in 2012/13.

Their best ever finish in Division Two was seventh place in the 1901/02 season. Doncaster won Division Three in the 2003/4 season.

They were relegated to League Two on the final day of the 2015/16 season, as the Brewers held Rovers to a 0-0 draw to secure promotion to the Championship at the Keepmoat Stadium.

They were promoted from the fourth tier at the first time of asking, securing a third-place finish in the 2016/17 season with 85 points.

LAST SEASON

Doncaster’s first season back in League One saw them finish in 15th place, having won 13 of their 46 games. John Marquis top-scored for the Yorkshire side, with 14 goals in 45 League One games.

GROUND

The Keepmoat Stadium is an all-seater stadium which has a capacity of 15,231. 58 miles separate the Pirelli Stadium from the home of Doncaster Rovers, which is a journey of little over an hour.

MANAGER

At the time of writing, Doncaster had not yet appointed a new manager after former Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson left the club earlier this summer.

INCOMINGS

Doncaster have added to their depth in defence with the signing of Tom Anderson from Burnley. The centre-half spent the second half of last season on-loan at the Keepmoat Stadium and has signed a two-year deal at the club.
