TOM Flanagan has left Burton Albion and has joined Sunderland.
The defender has moved on a free transfer but with Albion including a sell-on clause.
Flanagan was made available for transfer this summer when the club’s retained list was confirmed.
Brewers manager Nigel Clough said at the time: “He’s got a year left (on his contract) but we have to free something up somewhere.
“With John Brayford and Damien McCrory, and Ben Turner stepping in at left-back as he did, I don’t think we can carry all four.
“Tom made 57 Championship appearances in the last two years. He did well and had a new lease of life almost at full-back, but we have to make cuts somewhere and unfortunately that’s one of them.”
