INJURY UPDATE: BRENTFORD

5 March 2018

TOM Flanagan will be back available for selection for tomorrow’s home game against Brentford (kick off 7.45pm) but Hope Akpan could be sidelined by injury.

Defenders John Brayford and Ben Turner are still struggling with their calf injuries and will miss the game but Marvin Sordell is expected to be fit after shaking off the effects of illness and a sore toe.

The Brewers game at Sheffield United was called off on Saturday due to the snowy weather and Albion trained indoors at St George’s Park instead.

Flanagan has been struggling with a calf injury but is now returning to fitness and his return will boost Albion’s defensive options.

First team coach Andy Garner: “Tom was able to train with us on Saturday and he will be in the squad. Marvin will be in the squad as well.

“Hope twisted his ankle a little bit on Saturday in training and can’t train today so we will have to see how he is tomorrow.”

The Brewers can bring Luke Murphy back into midfield as he has now recovered from a gashed shin picked up in the game at Aston Villa on February 3.

Garner said: “Luke did the full session on Saturday so he is now fine and back in contention. We can’t afford to be playing anyone tomorrow with even a slight injury as the opposition can be very good. We need everyone fully fit.”
