INJURY UPDATE: BRISTOL CITY

7 March 2018

NIGEL Clough is hoping that Damien McCrory shakes off an injury picked up last night at Brentford in time for the visit of Bristol City on Saturday (kick off 3pm).

McCrory picked up a knee injury in the first half last night and had to be taken off.

Clough said: “We hope Damien’s injury was just contact, but we will have to see how he is.”

The Brewers will still be without John Brayford and Ben Turner (both calf injuries) and will probably have to manage without midfielder Hope Akpan.

Clough said: “Hope missed the game with an ankle injury. He went over on it on the indoor surface at St George’s Park on Saturday. He just ran off the edge of the pitch and twisted his ankle and was unlucky.

“John Brayford and Ben Turner are not quite ready yet but it’s nice to have Tom Flanagan back after he came on last night.

"It's frustrating to have so many defensive injuries because as well as Lucas Akins is doing at right back it would be nice to have him as another attacking option.

"If Damien had stayed on we could have brought in Tom Flanagan at right back and pushed Lucas on, But we didn't get that opportunity."
