BRAYFORD: 'WE HAD CHANCES'

30 March 2018

JOHN Brayford says that Burton Albion need to start taking their chances in order to survive the close relegation battle

“We had the chances but we didn’t defend well enough, the goals have gone against us and we didn’t score enough.

“The game’s gone pretty much the same as the rest of the season. We had chances early on but we made mistakes for the goals. They’ve capitalised on them and we haven’t. “

The defender also praised the Brewers’ ability to compete with the bigger teams this season.

“We know we can compete with these teams. We domimated in patches of the game but we’ve conceded at crucial stages and haven’t scored.

“We’ve just made mistakes and the other teams have scored, that’s why they’re second in the league and the game’s finished the way it has done today.

“It’s one of those games where you feel like you’re repeating yourselves from previous weeks. We’ve just got to take it on the chin really and carry on fighting.”

Brayford made his return to the side from injury and said he’s feeling fully recovered.

“I’ve had a bit of time to recover from my injury now and I feel back to normal. It’s a team game at the end of the day and we’re in it together still.

It was nice to be back into the team, its what I’m paid to do and sometimes you don’t do it as well as others even though you want to.”
