CLOUGH NOMINATED FOR MANAGER OF THE MONTH

3 May 2018

NIGEL Clough has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for April.

The Brewers won the last three games of the month beating Derby County 3-1, Sunderland 2-1 and Bolton 2-0.

The judging panel selected the Brewers manager for the four-man shortlist.

The nominations are:

Nigel Clough (Burton Albion)

April began with Burton bottom and four points from safety. A 5-0 home defeat by Hull seemed to signal relegation but such is the trust between Clough and his players that three straight wins followed and offered hope of survival.

Slavisa Jokanovic (Fulham)

Six more unbeaten games and 16 more points as his team continued their relentless pursuit of automatic promotion. Even in the crucial run-in, he has his players expressing themselves with verve, freedom and beguiling fluency.

Tony Pulis (Middlesbrough)

Brought in just before the New Year to secure a play-off place, he achieved exactly that in April. He used his nous and experience to inspire a haul of 11 points from six games, four of which came against promotion-chasing rivals.

Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

The inevitable finally happened when his silky-smooth side sealed promotion and the Championship title in an unbeaten April which yielded 14 points from six games. Pivotally, they included a 1-0 win at nearest rivals Cardiff.

The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ EFL League expert Don Goodman; EFL Marketing Director Drew Barrand, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.

The winner will be announced tomorrow.
