BREWERS TAKE UP DINANGA CONTRACT OPTION

4 May 2018

BURTON Albion have taken up an option in striker Marcus Dinanga’s contract to keep him with the club until June 2019.

The 20-year-old forward signed a new contract last summer following an impressive loan spell with Matlock Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division, keeping him with The Brewers until this summer with that option of an extra year in the club's favour.

Dinanga scored 34 goals for Matlock in league and cup competitions in 2016/17, and moved up a level last term, scoring 25 goals for National League North side AFC Telford United.

Dinanga is now keen to take the momentum from his two loan spells into pre-season.

"It’s always nice to get another contract,” said Dinanga.

"It shows I’ve done my job on loan at Telford - I feel like it has been a similar season to the last one.

"I’ve scored 25 goals and I’m happy that Telford were able to stay up as well.

"It’s been a good season. I feel like I’m tougher than last year now, and that I’m more clinical in front of goal.

"Hopefully I can score a few goals in pre-season and push on."

"Marcus went up a level last season to the National League North and he’s scored goals again,” said manager Nigel Clough.

"He’ll be back in pre-season training with us and we’ll assess things from there."
