CLOUGH EXPECTS PRESTON TO THROW EVERYTHING AT BREWERS

5 May 2018

NIGEL Clough expects Preston to throw everything at the Brewers as the home side chase a play-off place.

Both sides need a victory and both will have eyes on Derby vs Barnsley, a game that will have an impact on the fate of the teams at Deepdale.

Clough said: “I think Preston will have a go. They have nothing to lose by throwing everything at us. They know if they don’t win they will have no chance, so they will be going all out to do that. They will think Derby will get a point against Barnsley so it’s an outside chance for them but that won’t stop them having a go.

“They have had a brilliant season. I’m sure if you had said to them that they would have a chance on the last day they would have taken it as well.”

Clough is hoping that in-form striker Liam Boyce might make the difference for the Brewers.

“Liam has only truly been fit the last two or three weeks and you can see the difference he makes to the team. The first goal we scored against Bolton we can only score it because he is in the team. We are only talking another three or four points over the course of 45 games and we would have been safe now. He would have got us those points.

“But he has a chance to put all that frustration behind him for himself and everyone else and have a positive impact on Sunday.”
