NIGEL Clough has paid tribute to the loan players who made an impact for the Brewers last season.
Luke Murphy (Leeds), Darren Bent (Derby), Martin Samuelsen (West Ham) and Jacob Davenport (Manchester City) have all returned to their parent clubs now the season is over.
Clough said: “They have all been brilliant.
“Luke has been one of the best lads to work with over the last 18 month and I will put a call in to Paul Heckingbottom to make sure he knows how well he has done for us. He got frozen out at Leeds a couple of seasons ago and joined us in the January, but I think Paul will feel differently. I think Luke will get a chance to prove himself at Leeds next season ad I hope he does because he’s good enough.
“He’s a fantastic lad and he was down as much as anyone after the Preston game as I think he was hoping he could come back again.
“Jacob has been an almost ever present and has been absolutely brilliant, and he’s had the important taste of first team football now.
“Martin started really well for us and then got an illness. He came back in training, but the team were playing well by then and we couldn’t get him back in.
“Darren has come and had an impact and scored goals for us, so they have all contributed.”
