PREVIEW: WALSALL VS BREWERS

3 November 2018

DESPITE their midweek cup heroics, the Brewers will be solely focused on returning to form in League One when they face Walsall this afternoon.

HEAD 2 HEAD

While there have been three matches between the two sides in EFL action, the Brewers have never beaten Walsall. However, Albion arguably won the most important battle. Burton Albion pipped Walsall to automatic promotion from League One to the Championship in the 2015-16 season.

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS

A host of first team players will be assessed ahead of today’s game, with Stephen Quinn, Kyle McFadzean, David Templeton and Jake Buxton all on the treatment table after Tuesday’s victory over Nottingham Forest.

Left-footed defenders Reece Hutchinson, Ben Turner and Damien McCrory are all injured, although Kieran Wallace could be in contention for a place in the squad after joining on non-contract terms.

Will Miller will also be assessed after he pulled up in the warm up on Tuesday night.

WALSALL TEAM NEWS

Ben Purkiss has joined Walsall on non-contract terms as he steps up his rehabilitation from a neck injury that has sidelined him since the summer.

OFFICIALS

Kevin Johnson has refereed six League One games this season and has issued 18 yellow cards. The Somerset-born referee has also awarded one penalty in the league this campaign.
