CLOUGH HOPES FOR LUCRATIVE FA CUP RUN

8 November 2018

NIGEL Clough isn’t worried about the number of games his team is facing this season and will take a replay if necessary in the FA Cup on Saturday at Scunthorpe.

The Brewers are still in the Carabao Cup and have a postponed away League One trip to Barnsley to re-arrange but still want to make progress in the FA Cup even if it creates fixture problems.

Clough said: “We will take a replay now. We want to stay in the competition and being in the hat on Saturday is the first priority.

“Getting to the last eight of the Carabao Cup is an outstanding run but the FA Cup is still very important. When the big boys come in in the Third Round that’s one of the most exciting times of the season for fans and you want to be in that draw.

"We have to get through a couple of rounds first and we want to win football matches, whether that’s a reserve game, eight a side in training or whatever we are trying to instil in the players that you don’t want to lose,

“If you get to the Third Round it can provide a massive boost and a big tie with all the finanacial rewards it did 12 years ago when we were in the Conference.

“We want to keep things going, keep up the good performances and results. We will take all the extra games at the moment. We want to win matches in whatever the competition.”
