CLOUGH SAYS SCUNTHORPE WILL OFFER TOUGH TEST FOR BREWERS

9 November 2018

NIGEL Clough is expecting a tough test at Scunthorpe tomorrow as the Brewers look to make FA Cup progress.

Albion are looking to win a first game in the competition for five seasons as they take on the fellow League One side in the First Round (kick off 3pm)

The Brewers manager said: “It’s a difficult away draw but we want to get through a couple of rounds to get in with the Premier League teams where all the glory and financial rewards are. At this stage to draw someone in your own league away is as tough as it gets."

Scunthorpe had hit a poor patch of form since drawing 0-0 at the Pirelli Stadium on September 29 but came from 3-0 down to earn a draw on Saturday and may see that as a turning point.

Clough said: “It will give them a massive boost. When you are 3-0 down at home with half an hour to go and staring down the barrel at that sort of defeat you are looking to get some pride out of the game but to get three goals back I think will make them a completely different proposition on Saturday.

“They will know we have played well and scored goals away from home and the way they set up here a few weeks ago it will make them very difficult to break down.

“They are in a false position in the league. They are better team than that and will be looking at the FA Cup to kickstart their season.”
