REPORT: ROTHERHAM UNITED VS YOUNG BREWERS

30 November 2018

A hat-trick from Tom Hewlett, as well as a goal from Kyle Clamp and a stunning free-kick from Ethan Vale, helped the Young Brewers to a five-star performance as they beat Rotherham United 5-3.

Rotherham had the first chance of the game when their forward got behind the Albion defence but could not find a teammate with his pass across goal.

The Young Brewers’ first chance came when Ethan Vale’s free-kick found Regan Ganley at the back post. The defender got his shot away but scuffed the ball wide of the goal.

Albion broke the deadlock in a stunning fashion. Tom Hewlett spun on the edge of the box and lashed the ball into the roof of the net from outside the penalty area.

Jack Holmes went close to a second Brewers goal before half-time but fired over the near post.

Rotherham drew level just minutes after the break. A deep free-kick led to a free header at the back post, which made it 1-1.

Hewlett netted his second after initially scuffing an effort, before smashing the ball high into the net. 2-1.

Kyle Clamp made it 3-1 with a lovely turn and finish from inside the box, after holding-up Morley’s long throw.

Hewlett then made it 4-1 with his hat-trick goal. The captain on the day squeezed the ball past the goalkeeper and in off the far post.

Rotherham scored twice more, a goal either side of Ethan Vale’s show stealing free-kick. The midfielder curled the ball home from around 25 yards to put the game out of the hosts’ reach.
