NIGEL Clough wants his team to forget about the Carabao Cup and focus on picking up league points at Walsall on Saturday (kick off 3pm).
Dean Keates side have made a promising start to the season and are currently 9th in League One with 25 points and Walsall will be a difficult place to go for an injury hit Brewers squad.
Clough said: “We played them in the Checkatrade Trophy and they are a youngish side. You can see the way they play and the work rate which is similar to ourselves. They have had some great results and I think they are one of those teams who can beat anybody and lose to anybody. They are strong at home as they always have been.
“It’s a localish game for us and it’s a good one after the cup tie win over Nottingham Forest.
“Sometimes we have had it after the big games that the players are mentally and physically drained and we have to recover from these nights and make sure a few days later we are ready to go again. Premier League managers say the same after the Champions League so it’s throughout football.
“But we keep impressing on the players that the league is more important.
“Every time we look at the league table we know we should be a good eight or nine points better off and looking at that top six. But we have plenty of time to achieve that if we keep putting in performances.”
