MCCRORY SAYS MIDWEEK WIN WOULD BE SOMETHING TO BUILD ON

2 October 2018

DAMIEN McCrory says that a win over Southend at the Pirelli Stadium tonight would give the side something to build on.

The full back has started Albion’s last three home games, none of which have ended in defeat.

Having drawn with Scunthorpe at the weekend, McCrory feels that the result tonight will determine how good a point that was, as well as providing a platform for the side to move up the table, should they Chris Powell’s side.

He said: “I think that if we come out of Tuesday night with three points, people are thinking ‘what a great week’. We have beaten Burnley, drawn with Scunthorpe and then to win on Tuesday would be great as it would be something to build on.

“We have a lot of history (with Southend). Since I have been here, we have faced them in the (League Two) play-offs. We have had some thrilling games at home and at their place.

“We know what Southend are all about. They are a tough team and they will come here and fight. They will want a result on Tuesday night but, ultimately, it is down to us and how we start on Tuesday night, to take the game to them.”
