CLOUGH LOOKS TO PLAY STRONGEST TEAM POSSIBLE AT PORT VALE

8 October 2018

NIGEL Clough will send a strong team to Port Vale for tomorrow's Checkatrade Trophy clash but will be missing some key players through injury.

David Templeton missed Saturday's game at Wycombe and will almost certainly be absent again and Stephen Quinn and John Brayford are also unlikely to be in the squad,

Templeton has a shoulder injury.

Clough  said: "He fell awkwardly after a tackle against Southend. His shoulder was very sore and he has had it in a sling so it will depend how that is and we missed his creativity on Saturday.

"Stephen Quinn's knee is sore after Wycombe and John Brayford isn't up to playing Tuesday and Saturday at present."

Scott Fraser and Jake Hesketh both took whacks at Wycombe and were substituted so may also be doubts.

Clough said: "Jake Flannigan is also struggling with his knee and is having treatment at Southampton.

"Everybody else will be involved and we will start with as strong as team as we can.

"After Saturday everything is under review. If you are not winning you have to look at everything so formations might change a bit. We will have a look at one or two things tomorrow night.

"Everybody gets opportunities and if they get left out there are very good reasons and they have to do more to stay in the team."
