BREWERS DUO VISIT KICKS SOCIAL INCLUSION PROJECT

15 October 2018

SCOTT Fraser and Reece Hutchinson made it a hat-trick of appearances by Burton Albion first-team players last week out in the community, as they visited Burton Albion Community Trust’s social inclusion project, Kicks, on Friday evening.

The Premier League Kicks scheme is run within the local Burton-upon-Trent community and surrounding areas. Formely known as ‘Albion 2 Engage’, the project continues to focus on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour within the local area, as new branding and support from the Premier League will look to help increase participation levels.

Both players got involved with both a football and dance session at the Queen Street Community Centre in the Anglesey area of Burton, in which over 100 participants attended.

During their visit, they got the chance to answer questions and give footballing advice to youngsters, as well as getting the chance to see a live performance from the BACT Kicks Dance group.

Health and Inclusion Manager, John Widdowson, said: "The players were once again a credit to the club during their time out in the community.

"We’re always grateful for the work that they do, but to come out and engage on the evening before a game is fantastic and is something that we are really appreciative of.

"We’d obviously never put the lads in any kind of position where injury or tiredness is a potential risk, as we are fully aware that they need to be one hundred percent ready for the fixture on the following day.

"Just to come and show their faces though, to stand and talk, sign autographs or to even offer advice, is invaluable.

"It’s key to the work that we are trying to do out in the community, as it can ultimately make such a difference to the people that they engage with."
