CLOUGH DISAPPOINTED WITH AWAY DRAW

22 October 2018

NIGEL Clough was disappointed to see his team drawn away in the FA Cup First Round.

The Brewers came out of the hat drawn away to fellow League One club Scunthorpe United.

Albion only played Scunthorpe on September 29 - a 0-0 stalemate at the Pirelli Stadium with the Brewers having the better of the chances and play but failing to grab the three points.

The two teams both have 17 points and are 14th and 15th in the League One table with Albion having a better goal difference and having played one game less.

The Brewers manager said: "At this stage in the competition there aren't many draws that could have been harder for us - only the teams above us in League One away - so it's a disappointing draw.

"It's also disappointing to again be away in the FA Cup - although at least it's not too far to go for our fans."

Clough would also take a replay if Albion can't win the tie at the first attempt.

He said: "We aren't bothered if there has to be another game our aim will be to stay in the competition and to go through even if that means a replay.

"Starting in the First Round our aim has to be to get to the Third Round and get a big tie if possible so we wll be looking to get through against Scunthorpe.

"The only slight benefit is that they are in our league so we aren't going somewhere totally unknown but it is one of the toughest draws we could have got at this stage."
