BRAYFORD SAYS BREWERS MUST MAKE DOMINANCE COUNT

28 October 2018

JOHN Brayford believes that the quality of Albion’s football this season could be compared to teams in the division above, although the defender admits the Brewers must start taking their chances when they are on top in matches.

Nigel Clough’s side were left wondering how they did not claim at least a point from promotion-chasing Peterborough United, after dominating much of the match and playing the final half-hour of the game almost exclusively in the visiting side’s half.

Ultimately, despite creating numerous opportunities, the Brewers were beaten 2-1. Brayford believes the quality of football cannot be question. However, he says that Albion must be better in both the attacking and defensive thirds.

He said: “You have seen the football that we played (against Peterborough), I don’t think that many teams in this division will play football like we are. I am not saying we are playing football in the ‘right’ way but it is the way that we want to play.

“I think that in the last few weeks we have created quite a few chances and have scored a few goals. We have got to do both sides of the game. On the attacking side, it is going well, but we need to keep it out at the other end.

“We are playing excellently, really. Some of our football is like the Championship sort of football, with the nice passing and getting in behind teams. We have just got to try to make it count.”
