BREWERS ADD DEFENDER WALLACE TO SQUAD

30 October 2018

BURTON Albion have added former Sheffield United defender Kieran Wallace to the squad on non-contract terms.

The 23-year-old made 15 League One appearances for The Blades under manager Nigel Clough, and has been training with The Brewers - playing 90 minutes in our Birmingham Senior Cup game at Nuneaton Borough.

Wallace, a former Nottingham Forest trainee, spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Fleetwood Town and last season turned out for Matlock Town.

Wallace said: “I came in about eight weeks ago and asked if I could join training. I had a club in the summer but, unfortunately, I dislocated my shoulder and missed all of pre-season. The gaffer was my manager at Sheffield United, so I asked him if I could come and get fit and I was very thankful he said yes.

“I have come in and its spiralled from there and now hopefully I can kick on and get in the team and try and impress. At Sheffield United I have had a taste of League One and I have dropped down the levels but I feel I can impress at this level and this gives me the platform to get back and try and prove myself again.

“I grow up playing central midfield and being pushed out to the left. It has evolved playing more left back and filling in at centre back. Different managers have preferred me in different positions but I’m happy to play anywhere.”

Wallace will wear squad number 22.
