MATCH PREVIEW: BREWERS VS WALSALL

4 September 2018

THE Brewers kick-off their maiden Checkatrade Trophy group by hosting Walsall at the Pirelli Stadium this evening.

HEAD 2 HEAD

Only two Football League meetings have taken place between the two sides. Walsall came out on top in the first meeting, while the latest meeting in February 2016 ended in a 0-0 draw.

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS

Nigel Clough will still be without most of his defence when the Brewers take on Walsall in the Checkatrade Trophy tomorrow (kick off 7.45pm).

Jake Buxton , John Brayford and Damien McCrory are all likely to miss the Brewers first game in the competition after sitting out the victory over Wimbledon on Saturday. Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is also still a long way off fitness.

Kyle McFadzean will however be back after serving a one game ban for the red card against Aston Villa.

WALSALL TEAM NEWS

Loanees Connor Ronan and Connor Johnson could feature after joining the Sadlers from Wolves on loan deadline day.

OFFICIALS

Robert Lewis has refereed A single League One game and issued one yellow card. In his other three games in all competitions this season, Lewis has handed out 10 yellows, one red and awarded three penalties.

TICKETS

Ticket prices are as follows:

Adult - £16
Concessions (U17 & Students with ID) - £9

Supporters should note that BOTH the West and North terraces will be closed for this fixture.

BAG POLICY

Burton Albion is reminding fans that they are encouraged not to bring bags to the Pirelli Stadium.

The policy is in operation for security and safety reasons and is in line with other football clubs in the EFL.

The club does not permit holdalls and rucksacks in the stands, terraces or in hospitality areas. The club also discourages bringing smaller bags into the ground. Anyone bringing any bag to the Pirelli Stadium will have to have it checked and tagged by security staff. This will mean that supporters must be willing to present their bags for checking on arrival and that there may be queues meaning extra time will be needed to enter the stadium.
