LFE GOAL OF THE MONTH AUGUST 2018

7 September 2018

LFE’S Goal of the Month is back with eight spectacular strikes from across the Academy leagues in August to celebrate the start of the new 2018-19 season, with Young Brewer Kyle Clamp nominated.

Blackpool’s Nathan Shaw kicks things off with a powerful left-foot drive from distance, while Bolton Wanderers Under-18s captain Luca Connell features after going on a surging individual run before applying a calm finish.

Clamp opened his account for the season with a powerful long-range strike, which came against Hartlepool United on the opening day of the Youth Alliance season.

Peterborough United begin the season with two entries from set-pieces, with Harrison Burrows finding the top corner from a pinpoint free-kick and Jack Gurney netting directly from a corner.

Wigan Athletic first-year apprentice Joe Gelhardt makes the cut at the first time of asking thanks to a vicious strike from outside the area, while Sam Bennett (Cambridge United) chose precision over power with a delightful lob.

Elsewhere, Luton Town’s Connor Tomlinson put himself in contention after a sublime turn and shot that gave the keeper no chance.
