CLOUGH SAYS HOME FORM WILL BE VITAL FOR BREWERS

18 September 2018

AFTER recording a third home win in four League One games this campaign, Nigel Clough says that his team’s form at the Pirelli Stadium will be a key factor in their season.

Albion lost the opening home game to Rochdale but since then have beaten Doncaster, Wimbledon and Sunderland at the Pirelli Stadium as well as dumping Aston Villa out of the Carabao Cup.

Clough said: “Home form is vital. It started at the end of last season with victories against Derby and Bolton. We had a little setback against Rochdale despite being brilliant for an hour of the game but have taken it on again. After not winning at home for so long last season it has gone a long way to turning it around with the Sunderland victory.”

Clough was delighted that the latest victory was against Sunderland, hotly fancied for promotion back to the Championship after being relegated with Albion last season.

Clough said: “That’s a little bit of a statement that on our day, when we can get most of our people fit, we can give everyone in this league a game.

“I just hope we have had all our injuries out of the way at the start of the season as right from pre-season it has been disruptive and even now we have Buxton and Brayford behind the dugout.”
