INJURY UPDATE: BURNLEY

24 September 2018

NIGEL Clough will assess the fitness of Jake Buxton and John Brayford ahead of the Carabao Cup third round tie with Burnley tomorrow night.

The defensive duo have not featured in a number of weeks for Albion, although Brayford was fit enough to make the bench on Saturday. However, the Brewers will definitely need to make one defensive change against the Clarets due to Kyle McFadzean’s suspension.

Brayford and Buxton will both train today ahead of the game and Clough will assess the fitness before Sean Dyche’s side travel to Staffordshire tomorrow evening.

He said: “They have not trained much. Jake Buxton has joined in with half a session and John Brayford has only had one session. We will assess them after training today and see how they come through.

“With Kyle McFadzean being suspended, somebody will have to fill in. Devente Cole (cup-tied) is the only other one that we will be missing. It will give a couple of other players an opportunity”

Clough says that the squad is almost reaching full strength, although goalkeeping setbacks have still affected the side.

“We are reaching a stage where we have a fully-fit squad, apart from the goalkeepers.

“Brad Collins and Stephen Bywater are still out and Harry Campbell actually has the flu, so he will not be training today.”
