MANAGER AND PLAYERS UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT ON UNIVERSITY VISIT

25 September 2018

BREWERS manager Nigel Clough and first team players Liam Boyce ad Jamie Allen were put under the spotlight by media students at the University of Derby.

The Burton Albion trio were invited to take centre stage at an event organised for students on the sports and football journalism courses.

The Albion manager and the players were involved in mock TV interviews before taking part in a press conference-style question and answer session.

The students were also presented with surprise scenarios to react to so that they had to think on their feet about questions.

Nigel Clough said: “It was a pleasure to go back to the University of Derby and meet the students again. It was a brilliant event that I hope was not only useful for the students but also the players as they are often being put on the spot by questions from the media and they will have learnt a lot from the evening.”

Andrew Haines, a third-year football journalism student said: “It was a great event. Nigel Clough is a brilliant talker and I learnt a lot when he came here in my first year as well. It’s great experience as you can only progress by doing ‘real world’ learning – speaking to players and managers. This is part of the learning process and it hopefully sets you up for a long career in sports journalism.”
