CLOUGH LOOKS FOR MONEY-SPINNING TIE FOR BREWERS

26 September 2018

AFTER beating Burnley to make the Carabao Cup Fourth Round, Burton Albion will have to wait until Saturday for the draw with Nigel Clough looking for a money-spinning tie.

The Brewers manager said: "We talk about the three things we want from the cup - glory, confidence and money. We got the glory against Burnley, we certainly got some confidence and hopefully we might now get all three in the next round.

"We'd like a big club at home or away. Revenue will be as important as anything in the next round.

"The Carabao Cup is right up there for us because of the confidence we can get from it.

"If the draw is kind we can earn some revenue and just the feeling it gives everyone beating a Premier League side is great as it has only happened once before in Burton Albion's history.

"We got a few knocks last night and those games take a lot out of you physically and emotionally and we have two important league games coming up."

Clough says approaching Burnley like any other game was the key to the 2-1 victory.

"We put the best possible side out and tried to win the game and trusted the youngsters to come on and do a job."

The Fourth Round draw will take place live on Quest on the EFL’s highlights programme at 9pm on Saturday night but Clough is not thinking about that just yet.

"We will enjoy this for a couple of days and then start thinking about Scunthorpe."
