FOX SIGNS NEW BREWERS DEAL

5 April 2019

BEN Fox has signed an extension to his Burton Albion contract that will keep him at the Pirelli Stadium until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The 21-year-old has featured in 29 games in all competitions for the Brewers this season and is another player who has graduated through the Burton Albion Academy.

Manager Nigel Clough said: “It’s another young player who has committed his future to Burton Albion and he will be very important next season.

“He has played nearly 30 times despite picking up an injury. Young players do get injured and we hope with the experience he has had this year he will be stronger next season and able to get through the season.

“His versatility is another attraction - he can play midfield, right back and used to play centre half as well and as he grows and strengthens that might be an option for him.

“He is a local lad, and it’s great that we have a group of young players who are growing together. It’s harder if you are the only youngster and have no-one to relate to but it’s good when you have that group to work and improve together.”

Fox said: “I’m really happy to get it over the line. It’s a big responsibility and I’m really grateful for the opportunity the manager has presented to me and I know the other young players are as well. It’s going to be important for us now to knuckle down and get as much game time as we can, try to impress and hopefully take the club forward.

“I love it here, it’s great – my home town club - and having the opportunity to play for them is fantastic.”
