BUXTON IS AN INJURY DOUBT FOR SUNDERLAND

8 April 2019

JAKE Buxton is Nigel Clough’s biggest injury worry as the Brewers head to Sunderland tomorrow.

The skipper is a doubt after picking up a couple of strains in the 3-1 victory over Barnsley on Saturday.

Nigel Clough will also be without David Templeton who missed Saturday’s victory with a knee injury.

The Brewers manager said: “There is no progress for David Templeton at the moment. Jake took a couple of knocks on Saturday so we will have to see how he is. We have had a bit of illness in the camp with Kyle McFadzean and Will Miller as well so they are the immediate doubts.”

Sunderland are unbeaten at the Stadium of Light this season and have lost only two League One games – one of which was at the Pirelli Stadium back in September.

Clough said: “The fact that they have only lost two games all season shows their strength in this league and how resilient they are.”

But the Brewers are in a rich vein of form having scored 11 times in winning the last three matches.

Clough said: “We are more confident than at any other time in the season.”
