BUXTON SET TO MISS SCUNTHORPE GAME

10 April 2019

BREWERS captain Jake Buxton picked up a calf injury at Sunderland that means he will almost certainly miss Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe.

The defender picked up the injury in the closing minutes of the 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: "Jake strained his calf in added time which was the major drawback of the evening and he will be struggling for Saturday and we don't know how long beyond that.

"He went up for a cross, cleared one and then just felt it. We will see how he is but he is highly unlikely for Saturday.

"That's a shame as he was excellent again. He shouldn't really have played as he was carrying some knocks - a sore toe and one or two other things and normally we would have left him out. But he wanted to play at Sunderland.

"Damien McCrory is in with a chance of starting now on Saturday and he only came back in the 18 because Will Miller was ill.

"Kieran Wallace might come in, as we have two or three options if Jake doesn't make it."
