A PLACARD Parade at half-time during a Burton Albion home game has raised £6,600 pounds to support good causes.
The parade, organised by Burton Rotary Club, takes place annually at the Pirelli Stadium with companies signing up to have their names displayed on placard boards that are taken around the ground during the half-time interval.
This year’s Burton Rotary Club Placard Board Parade took place during the Barnsley home game in front of a crowd of more than 4,000.
As well as the parade, Burton Rotary Club volunteers held a bucket collection at the game raising £1,050 – all of which will be donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance, who were also on hand at the game to showcase the work they do.
Mike Styne, from Burton Rotary Club, said: “We would like to thank Burton Albion Football Club for supporting us with this very successful annual event.
“We would also like to thank all the companies who supported us by buying boards, which we are pleased to say were seen by more than 4,000 fans at the Pirelli Stadium.
“All the money will go to good causes that we support in the Burton area.”
Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson said: “We are always delighted to welcome Burton Rotary Club to the Pirelli Stadium for this popular event.
“It’s fantastic that so much money was raised, and I would like to thank our supporters and the visiting fans from Barnsley for their generous donations that will go to the Midlands Air Ambulance.”
