PREVIEW: SOUTHEND VS BREWERS

22 April 2019

NIGEL Clough’s Brewers will be hoping to round off the bank holiday fixtures with a win when they travel to face Southend this afternoon.

HEAD 2 HEAD

Of the 15 games between the two sides, Albion have won seven. Southend came out on top in the most recent meeting, coming from behind to win 2-1 in a game that the Brewers dominated for the most part.

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS

Brad Collins is expected to miss today’s game, meaning that Stephen Bywater will likely retain his starting spot.

Jake Buxton is a doubt, while Marcus Harness, Stephen Quinn and Scott Fraser will all be assessed before the game.

David Templeton remains injured, having been ruled out for the rest of the season.

SOUTHEND TEAM NEWS

Defender Sam Hart, midfielder Harry Bunn and forwards Simon Cox and Stephen Humphrys are all doubts, but could all feature if deemed fit. Luke Hyam is fit for selection after a hamstring injury.

OFFICIALS

Dean Whitestone has officiated 13 League One matches this season and has given 46 yellow cards, one red card and six penalties.

He will be assisted by Andrew Williams and Rob Smith, while Stuart Butler is the fourth official.

TICKETS AND STREAMING

Today’s game away at Southend United will unfortunately NOT be available for domestic live streaming, we can confirm.

This means Match Passes will not be available to Burton Albion fans based in the UK and Ireland.

However, with a monthly iFollow subscription (£4.49 a month) Brewers fans can listen to full audio commentary from Roots Hall on today as we take on Southend, with live text commentary from the Brewers' media team at the ground as well as coverage on the club's official Twitter page.

Tickets are now off-sale from the club - anyone looking to attend the game on Monday who has not yet bought a ticket can pay on the day at Southend, however this will incur an increase in price (£3 on all categories except for junior and under-9).

This will be CASH-ONLY at the turnstiles.
