BREWERS SIGN EVERTON STRIKER NATHAN BROADHEAD ON LOAN

2 August 2019

BURTON Albion have signed 21-year-old Everton forward Nathan Broadhead on a season-long loan.

The Wales Under 21 International has progressed through all the Academy age groups at Goodison park.

He scooped Everton's Under-23 Player-of-the-Season prize following the young Blues' double-winning exploits in 2018-19 – including scoring twice at Anfield in their victory over rivals Liverpool.

Broadhead netted in the first team's 4-0 SportPesa Trophy victory over Kenyan team Gor Mahia in November 2018.

Nigel Clough said: “He was the one we had in mind as soon as Marcus Harness left. We have had to wait but the most important thing is that we have got him. He has been away with Everton’s first team pre-season which is a very good sign.

“It’s his first loan. We have been aware of him and we are grateful to Everton for loaning him to us. I think the way we play football has been a big factor in him choosing to come here.

“He’s probably the most similar to Marcus in the squad now. He can also play in a wide position and in training today he looked very comfortable. It’s an exciting signing for us.”

Broadhead said: “I enjoyed getting to know the lads this morning and my first training session.

"I have been at Everton since I was 10 years old and have really enjoyed the experience of being there and coming here is another step in my career.

"This is something I have wanted to do for a long-time and hopefully I can take my chance."
