VACANCY: HEAD OF ACADEMY COACHING

Burton Albion Football Club is offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our Academy in a senior role as the Head of Academy Coaching. Applicants must possess a UEFA A License, a full UK driving licence and will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

Burton Albion Football Club are seeking a Head of Academy Coaching who will get a buzz from working in an elite sporting environment, in particular football and will have a desire to develop their own knowledge, skills and capability to be at the leading edge of coach development. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with coaches to develop them so that they are able to achieve, they will also take ownership of the coach development approach and will enjoy creating structure to work in a methodical, planned way, enjoying the 1:1 and group interaction when working collaboratively.

Achieving results through others is key and they will build trust by showing humility, behaving consistently and putting the needs of others first. The successful candidate will listen to others’ perspective and understand why people (individuals/ groups) do what they do.

They will also tailor their approach and method to suit the differing needs and levels of readiness of people (individuals/ groups), using a broad range of influencing skills to win people over and be able to ‘sell’ the development agenda.

They will communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, challenging when necessary, overcoming setbacks quickly, with the ability to demonstrate tenacity when faced with resistance or limited time to adopt ideas.

The successful candidate will be self-aware and have a strong self-concept requiring little support from others and be able to cope with pressure related to limited time and resource. Being able to apply themselves to administrative and mundane requirements of the role is a necessity as well as being able to prioritise effectively.

They must be able to analyse behaviour and can easily generate alternatives to solve problems and meet needs. Finally, they are able to present written information in a persuasive manner that is appropriate to the audience. The successful candidate will be enrolled on the Premier Leagues Elite Head of Coaching (EHOC) programme as part of their ongoing professional development.
