BREWERS FACE MORECAMBE IN CARABAO CUP

13 August 2019

BURTON Albion will be at home to Morecambe in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup after beating Port Vale 2-1 tonight.

The tie will be played week commencing August 26 and sees the Brewers face a club they once played regularly in the Northern Premier League and Conference.

Nigel Clough was pleased that the Brewers have a home tie in the competition as they target another good run.

He said: "We are very pleased to be at home and that gives us an opportunity to get through but it will still be a tough one.

"I know Jim Bentley from his Manchester City days and he is one of the longest-serving managers in the league.

"We have had some battles with Morecambe over the years going back to Eton Park and I'm sure this will be another one. Not so many years ago it would have been a non-league game so it's credit to both side where they are now.

"The draw is an opportunity to get through another round, get a big tie, some glory and help the finances, which means there is a lot at stake."
