BURTON Albion's Youth Development Phase side got their EFL Youth Alliance North-East season off to a fantastic start with a 2-0 win over Grimsby Town at St George's Park.
Jack Holmes opened the scoring in the first half with a fine effort. Taking down a pass from the right, Holmes swung round and struck the ball neatly on the turn, sending a superb effort to the top-left corner.
The win was secured after the break as Cael McDonnell reacted first to a header back across goal from a corner, diving to meet the ball with his head and finishing well off the post.
