BUXTON EXPECTS SIMILAR TEST TO SOUTHEND AS BREWERS TAKE ON LINCOLN

6 December 2019

CAPTAIN Jake Buxton is prepared to fight as Burton Albion host Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon in a 3pm kick off.

The Brewers hope to show their character once more after battling for a point against Southend United in midweek with just 10 men.

Buxton said: “[Southend] made it hard for us - we went down to 10 men so it’s one of those it hasn’t gone to plan.

“We look at it and performance-wise we took a point out of the game when we could have lost and maybe we would have done last year.”

The Brewers captain will want to see the same spirited performance from his side as they look ahead to a similar battle at the hands of the Imps.

Lincoln have won just one of their last six Sky Bet League One fixtures, however the Brewers will not be fooled into underestimating their opponents.

Buxton explained: “We love playing at home, we are finding it hard to break teams down, but we have to find a way to get results.

“The opposition will be similar to Southend. They’ll be physical, they have risen through the leagues, so they’ll have spirit and they have something about them.

“It’s up to us to stamp our authority on the game and make sure we play. Whatever Lincoln throw at us, we make sure we stand up to the fight.”

Buxton will rally his men as they hope a similar performance will give them three points at the Pirelli before a challenging trip away to Wycombe Wanderers.
