THE latest Sporting Dinner evening at the Pirelli Stadium will see former Wales, Celtic and Arsenal striker John Hartson talk about his prolific football career and inspiring story on April 11.
Hartson follows in the footsteps of Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton and Curtis Woodhouse in hosting a Sporting Dinner at the Pirelli Stadium - and this is an evening not to be missed.
In a storied and glittering career, 43-year-old Hartson scored more than 200 goals for eight different clubs, most memorably at Celtic where he won three Scottish Premiership titles (scoring more than a century of goals for The Hoops and playing alongside the likes of Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton).
Hartson was also capped 51 times for Wales, scoring 14 times, and broke many records over his career - Arsenal famously smashed the British transfer record for a teenager to sign Hartson from Luton Town for £2.5million.
In 2009, Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer and told it has also spread to his brain and lungs - but was eventually given the all-clear.
Hartson subsequently set up The John Hartson Foundation, which helps to raise awareness about early detection and raise money to help those affected by cancer.
John’s remarkable story ensures that this is an evening not to be missed.
The evening will feature an appearance from comedian Austin Knight.
Tickets cost £50 per person, including VAT, and include a four-course meal. A booking form for the evening on April 11 can be downloaded here and should be returned to events@burtonalbionfc.co.uk. Booking forms can also be handed in at the club shop.
