COLLINS LOAN SPELL EXTENDED TO END OF SEASON

3 January 2019

BURTON Albion can confirm that the loan spell of goalkeeper Bradley Collins from Premier League side Chelsea has been extended until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Collins initially signed for The Brewers on Transfer Deadline Day back in August and has gone on to make 15 appearances for us, 13 of which have been League starts.

In that time, Brad has kept four clean sheets, including a 3-0 win in his Albion debut at home to AFC Wimbledon back in September and our most recent game, the 0-0 draw away at Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day.

Collins would suffer a thigh injury in the 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley a week after his debut, keeping him out of action for more than a month, before returning to action in place of Dimitar Evtimov and starting the last 11 games in total.

Manager Nigel Clough said: “We’re pleased to be extending Brad’s loan spell with us - since picking up that early injury, he has come back into the team and done well.

“With the back four he kept an important clean sheet at Bristol on Tuesday. He’s still young and can keep learning with us.

“He is being pushed in training every day by the other keepers and we’re pleased to get him tied down for the rest of the season.

Collins said: "I'm really delighted to have got it over the line and we can look forward to the rest of the season now.

"It was definitely an easy decision. The boys are great, the manager is great and I like the way we play.

"I want us to keep pushing on now, push up the league and give it all we've got.

"League One has a lot more quality than League Two. There's not a lot of difference in styles, but there's a lot more quality when players get into those positions."
