AFTER his hat-trick against Rochdale on Saturday Marcus Harness is now buzzing at the prospect of taking on Manchester city.
The Brewers travel to the Etihad for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday and Harness believes the 4-0 away win on Saturday will put the team in the right frame of mind.
He said: “It’s great to go into that game with another clean sheet and a good performance. We will just go there and give it our best.
“Playing against the best players in the world is what you dream about as a kid and we are all buzzing as we have nothing to lose and can just go out and enjoy it.”
Harness was delighted to finally get off the mark in the league on Saturday in spectacular fashion.
He said: “It has been a long time coming – just to get a goal, so to get three I’m a bit blown away.
“The first one Bucko flicked it on and it came towards me and I just tried to get something on it to get it in the net. It was a great start for the team and put us in a good position to control the game and go on and play the way we know we can play.
“The other two I didn’t really think about too much. I have been doing that a lot lately and end up slicing at everything so this time I didn’t think too much, just hit them and they both ended up in the bottom corner of the net.
“It has been a long time coming and has been frustrating at times, but the club has been amazing with me, the different managers and the staff at the Academy have all been really patient and have given me the platform to grow and improve and help the team out like I now have done.
“I like this feeling so hopefully I can do it again and again. I didn’t do anything greatly different, the execution was just better and hopefully I can take that on.”
