BREWERS SIGN JOSH CLARKE ON LOAN DEAL

11 January 2019

BURTON Albion have signed Josh Clarke from Brentford on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has played most of his football in the Championship for his parent club and will offer Nigel Clough some options on the right-hand side.

The Brewers manager said: “He can play full-back or as a wide man. We are very pleased he has joined us until the end of the season.

“We see John Brayford as more of a centre half than a right back, Ben Fox has filled in at right back and we may keep him there and try and develop him there, but we certainly need some help and options down that right side, so we are delighted that Josh has come in.”

Clarke said: “I’m looking to get some minutes, help the team and get three points at the weekend. I want to help myself get back to me being the person I am, which is getting the ball, running at defenders and adding a bit of quality to the team.

“The lads here are brilliant and team spirit is right up there and I’m here to help the team get to the play-offs.”

Clarke should be available for selection tomorrow after the completion of all paperwork and will take squad number 21 for the Brewers.
