PROFESSIONAL development Phase Lead Coach Sam Rose says that the Young Brewers are playing with confidence after their 6-1 win over Premier League Huddersfield’s under 17s group.
The side won the game in dominant fashion, thanks to a first-half hat-trick from 1st year scholar Tom Hewlett, meaning he has now netted three in consecutive Youth Alliance games, as well as goals from Jack Holmes, Ethan Vale and Noaman Mallass.
Rose says that the team were good value for their win and are confident heading into the rest of the season.
He said: “It was a good start. We are really pleased with how the lads have reported back after Christmas, they look fit and are enjoying their football. It could have been a really difficult game but the way that the lads applied themselves, pressed and worked on the front foot really made it hard for Huddersfield.
“Huddersfield play some good football and have some good athletes and technical footballers so we are pleased to score six goals. That is now 11 goals in the last two Youth Alliance games and we have won two on the bounce, so we are in a good position. Everybody is playing with confidence.”
