HUTCHINSON BELIEVES DONCASTER GAME IS 'CRUCIAL' FOR BREWERS PLAY-OFF HOPES

18 January 2019

REECE Hutchinson believes that getting a result from tomorrow’s League One clash with Doncaster Rovers is ‘crucial’ if the Brewers are to continue their push for a play-off place.

Albion have only lost one of their last five league games, but that one defeat came in their most recent game against Gillingham. Hutchinson admits that reducing the 10-point gap between the Brewers and Doncaster this weekend is important if Nigel Clough’s side are to make the play-offs.

“We were unbeaten in four, so to lose to Gillingham in the way that we did was a shock to us. We thought that we were on top of them all game and we created a lot of chances, but we did not put them away. We conceded sloppy goals and that was our downfall.

“We are 10 points behind Doncaster, so I think that Saturday is going to be a crucial game for us, in terms of whether we make it to the play-offs. We need to get a good result if we are to push on.”

Last time the Brewers played at the Keepmoat Stadium, they earned promotion to the Championship. Hutchinson was watching the match on television that day, but hopes that he can be a part of another positive result on Saturday.

“I know about that day. It was a couple of years back, but I still remember watching it and rooting the lads on. It is just a good day in our history, but hopefully we can go there on Saturday and get a positive result.”
