BRAYFORD PRAISES ‘BRILLIANT’ BUXTON

21 January 2019

JOHN Brayford has praised Jake Buxton for his commitment, after the Brewers Captain played a crucial role in Brayford’s two goals at Doncaster on Saturday.

After a lengthy absence due to a back injury earlier in the season, Buxton has returned to the side recently and has produced a string of solid performances for Nigel Clough’s side.

Brayford, who scored his first Albion goal in 11 years when he opened the scoring against Doncaster, believes that Buxton’s influence on the side is not merely restricted to the field of play, as he helps to organise the side off the pitch.

He said: “Jake is brilliant, he is a great captain for this football club. It is not just what you see on the pitch, it is off the pitch as well. He is the man between the gaffer and the lads, he reiterates what the gaffer wants.

“He leads us really well on the field, with his organisation and everything. I got my goals (against Doncaster), but I wouldn’t have if Jake had not won those first two headers and he did the same at Rochdale for Marcus Harness.

“It is his commitment that makes him want to win them and he has been the same throughout his career.”
